Four Views on Creation
How do Christians interpret Genesis 1-2? Ken Keathley of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary writes:
“For Evangelicals, the origins issue is front and center. And it’s not going away anytime soon. I believe I am safe in saying that the doctrine of Creation and the proper interpretation of the first 11 chapters of Genesis will be the biggest theological and biblical debate we face over the next decade. Evangelicals are divided on the issue. At this time, four positions predominate: young earth creationism, old earth creationism, evolutionary creationism, and intelligent design. Let me briefly describe them and give links for each position.”

After reading Keathley’s summaries, which view do you hold and why?
I’m a young earth creationist. It allows Genesis 1-3 to mean what they say without having to explain them to mean something else; It also allows Paul in Romans to mean what He says about creation suffering and about Adam and Christ without having to ignore his arguments. I can accept old earth creationism as a view to be considered. BioLogos seems to willing to give up important truths such as Adam as the Federal Head of the human race. I appreciate that Intelligent Design recognizes there is a Designer.
