This Week’s Top 5: The Best of the Best Around the Christian Net
Linking you to the top 5 Christian blog posts of the week—posts that provide robust, rich, and relevant insights for living.
How Dare You!
Pastor Thabiti Anyabwile speaks the truth in love as he shares his convictions about white Evangelicals comparing abortion to slavery. His main thesis: As a white person, don’t make that comparison with a black audience unless you first demonstrate empathy over the horrors of slavery. I’ve made that comparison before and I am sure I will again, and I trust it has always been done with empathy and sensitivity. While I wouldn’t word everything the same as Pastor Anyabwile did in his post, I do think it is great food for thought. See what you think as you read Yes, How Dare You Compare Abortion to Slavery!?
Grief and Loss
I deeply respect and appreciate people who can candidly share their grief over loss. Lucy Ann Moll is such a person. Reading her post Someone Died and I Hurt, is like reading a lament psalm—real and raw, trusting and faithful.
Why Biblical Counseling?
Pastor Rob Green pens a succinct yet convicting and convincing post that provides Five Reasons Why Being Involved in Gospel-Centered Counseling Is Rewarding.
John Newton on Suffering
The Desiring God blog shares a moving post of a hymn by John Newton: Prayer Answered by Crosses.
Slandering Faithful Pastors
Justin Taylor shares a brief but moving post quoting John Calvin on the evils of slandering pastors. Read On the Tendency to Criticize and the Need to Protect Our Pastors.
