Prepare to Pray: Meditation—“Our Father Which Art in Heaven”
“Our Father Who art in heaven, may our children meditate on Your perfect fatherly character. May they contemplate the nature of Your fatherhood—Our Father of holy love. May they reflect on and connect with the Body of Christ—Our Father, not only my Father. May they enjoy Your full attention and acceptance—basking in Your fatherly grace.”
Commune with God: Adoration—“Hallowed Be Thy Name”
“Father, I pray that our children will praise You for Who You are: worshiping, magnifying, exalting, and glorifying You. I pray that our children will thank You for what You do: expressing their gratitude for all Your grace-gifts and all Your amazing works. I pray that our children will set You apart as the supreme desire of their hearts. May their daily mission statement be to exalt You by enjoying You.”
Honor the King: Intercession—“Thy Kingdom Come”
“Heavenly Father, I ask that our children experience a deepening of Your rule in their hearts—surrendering to Your governance of their lives. I ask that You empower them to participate in a deepening of Your rule on planet Earth—that their lives will make a difference for Your glory. I ask that they will long for Your soon return. May they live for Your kingdom and not their own.”
Radically Commit: Submission/Direction—“Thy Will Be Done”
“Our Father, empower our children to pursue the right pleasure—may everything they do be motivated by the desire to bring You pleasure. May they experience calm assurance through understanding that Your glory and their good are inseparable, that Your will is always good and best. May they receive clear discernment to know Your will, bold courage to radically do Your will, and supernatural power to obey Your will.”
Invite God-Rescue: Supplication—“Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread”
“Father, empower our children to confess humbly (Give). May they acknowledge their spiritual poverty, admitting that without You they are and have nothing. May they have the faith to believe that all they need is You and what You choose to provide them. Empower them to ask unselfishly (Us, Our). May they pray for others and for themselves. Empower them to request wisely (This Day, Daily). Praying for today’s needs, trusting You for today’s supply, asking You to give them nothing more and nothing less than exactly what they need and can handle. Empower them to entreat practically (Bread). Provide their physical, material, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual needs. May they have freedom from worry as they trust You to supply their every need.”
Savor the Savior’s Grace: Confession—“Forgive Us Our Sins As We Forgive Those Who Have Sinned Against Us”
“Heavenly Father, I pray that our children will seek Your enlightenment to specifically confess their known sins and to ask Your Spirit to reveal their hidden sins. I pray that they will repent humbly, seeing that their debt is immeasurable and Your grace infinite. I pray that they will enjoy forgiveness, claiming Christ’s forgiveness and acceptance—knowing that their slate is wiped clean! I pray that they will grant forgiveness, forgiving all those who have hurt them/sinned against them physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually. I pray that they will seek reconciliation, going to anyone who they have sinned against to restore the relationship.”
Triumph Over Temptation: Petition—“Lead Us Not Into Temptation, But Deliver Us From Evil”
“Father, I ask that our children will seek Your protection. Please do not allow Satan even to tempt them to sin. I ask that they will seek boundaries. Please keep them from situations where they are most prone to sin—their besetting sins, areas of vulnerability, and temptations. I ask that they will seek victory. Please defeat sin, the world, the flesh, and the devil in their lives. I ask that they will grow in faith. Please help them to trust Your awesome power as their only hope for triumph.”
Confidently Trust God: Glorification—“For Thine Is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory Forever, Amen”
“Our Father Who art in heaven, I pray that our children will entrust themselves to You—believing that since You are the Almighty, Eternal King that You can answer their prayers. I pray that our children will glorify You, living for Your kingdom, through Your power, and for Your glory forever and ever, Amen.”
