RPM Ministries: Equipping You to Change Lives with Christ’s Changeless Truth
Bob,
I have been in pastoral counseling ministry for several years. I am a pastor on staff at a large Calvary Chapel church. You have been a tremendous help and resourse for the last few years. I have taught Biblical Counseling classes at the church for the last three years. The senior pastor and I have discussed starting a Biblical Counseling practice in our community. I have a friend who has a very successful Christian counseling practice. He is a licensed LCSW and charges for his services and accepts all insurances. We are discussing opening up the counseling center together. I hold a masters in marriage and family therapy, however I am not licensed and really do not want to start that all over again. It would take three years in Idaho and I just turned 60. We are trying to figure out the best model to do this. My church can give limited assistance. We have done some radio shows together and both of us are confident in our abilities and connections in the community for referrals but we do not know what will be best for me to make a living and charge for services. I have read a number of articles from different sources that are pro and con on charging. The need is certainly there but I am like anyone else. I cannot work for free. I would appreciate any information or suggestions you could give us and what other Biblical counselors may be doing. God bless.
