Someone shares a deep hurt with us…
What do we do after the hug?
Someone is candid with us about a besetting sin they’re struggling with…
What do we do after we pray with them?
This Monday-Friday, I’ll be in Lafayette, Indiana at Faith Bible Seminary teaching a week-long biblical counseling lab where we’ll answer those questions together.
Myself and a dozen students in the MA in Biblical Counseling program will spend the week working through Gospel Conversations: How to Care Like Christ. The premise of the book and of the week-long lab is:
We learn to become effective biblical counselors by giving and receiving biblical counseling in community.
In other words, you don’t learn to counsel simply by reading a book or hearing a lecture on counseling.
We learn to counsel by being counseled and by giving counsel.
That’s what will happen in our lab all week.
Please pray for us that we’ll open our lives to one another and leave this week further equipped to counsel.
