Why You Shouldn’t Stop Blogging (Or Why You Should Consider Starting)
Tim Challies has been pondering the demise of the individual Christian blog site. In today’s post, he lists several reasons that should encourage individuals to keep blogging. Read Tim’s thoughts—and keep blogging—at Why You Shouldn’t Stop Blogging (Or Why You Should Consider Starting).
God Is Near
Paul Tautges has such a shepherd’s heart. He writes:
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18). Loss comes in many different forms. Loss of a spouse, child, or another loved one to death. Loss of relationships through betrayal, estrangement, divorce, or a move across the country. Loss of security through business failure, foreclosure, or long-term unemployment. Loss of health or personal dreams from disability or terminal illness. And the list goes on. So much grief. So much pain. So many kinds of loss. But in the aftermath of painful news—in the midst of the fog of disillusionment—one thing is clear. You’re never alone. God is close by. He is “near to the brokenhearted.”

The Sanity and Insanity of Addiction
Greg Wetterlin, writing at the Faith Biblical Counseling Ministry’s Counseling with Confidence and Compassion blog site, notes that:
Why is it that we are so prone to insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again, but hoping to get a different result? No one stays up late watching a movie because they enjoy being exhausted the next day. No one enjoys the guilt and emptiness after indulging on pornographic content online. And no one enjoys the hangover, financial burden of drinking, or the problems that they tried to forget about rushing back at them as soon as sobriety comes back. If no one actually wants what the outcome of those activities actually brings, then why do people (and us!) continue to do the same things that bring misery, emptiness and hopelessness?

Dutch Pastors Face Possible Criminal Investigation for Signing the Nashville Statement
Denny Burk blogs about the Nashville Statement which is a confessional about Christian beliefs regarding sexuality. Denny writes:
Last month, over 250 Dutch pastors and church leaders went public with their endorsement of the Nashville Statement. At least one member of the Dutch parliament also endorsed the statement. Even though they simply meant to reaffirm what Christianity has always taught for its entire 2,000-year history, the statement has been met with fierce opposition in the Netherlands. Over the last several days, the public outcry against these leaders for their Christian convictions has been ferocious. Politicians and celebrities have publicly denounced them. The Hague, which is recognized as the international center for law and justice, flew a rainbow flag in protest of the Nashville Statement.
