A Word from Bob
I have made 100s of my resources available for free. You can find and download them from several places on my site, including:
- The RPM Ministries Free Resources Page here.
- My RPM Ministries Book Page here (click on the link to each book to find and download free resources related to each of my books).
In today’s post, I’m adding two more resources so:
You can download for free my Ph.D. dissertation on Martin Luther’s counseling, and my Th.M. thesis on understanding people biblically.
Free Resource #1: Martin Luther’s Pastoral Counseling
Since it was a Ph.D. dissertation, I had to have a complex title. Here it is:
Spiritual Care in Historical Perspective: Martin Luther as a Case Study in Christian Sustaining, Healing, Reconciling, and Guiding
People often ask me, “Bob, what person has most impacted your approach to biblical counseling?”
And I always answer, “Martin Luther.”
If you would like to understand my approach to counseling methodology, then this resource is for you.
Even more importantly, if you would like to understand and apply Martin Luther’s approach to counseling, then check out and download—for free—my Ph.D. dissertation:
Spiritual Care in Historical Perspective: Martin Luther as a Case Study in Christian Sustaining, Healing, Reconciling, and Guiding
I also turned my Ph.D. dissertation into a book with New Growth Press. Learn more about the book and download free resources here:
Counseling Under the Cross: How Martin Luther Applied the Gospel to Daily Life
The book is much more “user-friendly” than the dissertation. It’s about ½ the length. And, it is written without the “academic style” of a dissertation. I “de-dissertation-ized” the book!
Free Resource #2: A Biblical Counseling Understanding of People
Since it was a Th.M. thesis, I had to have a complex title. Here it is:
Hebrew Anthropological Terms as a Foundation for a Biblical Counseling Model of Man
Let’s simplify. In my thesis, I studied Old Testament words for the soul, the mind/heart, the will, and for emotions.
If you want to understand my theology of counseling, then this is a great place to start. Download it for free here:
Hebrew Anthropological Terms as a Foundation for a Biblical Counseling Model of Man
My book, Gospel-Centered Counseling: How Christ Changes Lives, is a user-friendly version of my Th.M. thesis. The book walks you through 8 ultimate life questions—by applying theology to our lives and to our counseling.
