5 top Christian blog posts of the week. Posts by Tim Challies, Al Mohler, the Biblical Counseling Coalition, and more on grief, political disappointment, marriage counseling, and more.
Learning from the Wonderful Counseling
Pat Quinn is one of my favorite biblical counseling bloggers. And his post here writes about one of my favorite biblical counseling topics: Christ as our model for counseling. In Learning from the Wonderful Counselor, Pat begins:
“As biblical counselors, we are thankful for good teachers whose instruction and example have shaped our understanding and practice. However, our greatest gift and privilege is to learn from the Master Himself: ‘And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor’ (Isa. 9:6).”

On Running a Short Race Well
This was a difficult post to read. I’m sure it was an excruciating post to write, yet, for the author, a hope-giving and hope-sharing post. This is Tim Challies’ post sharing his heart about the sudden and unexpected homegoing of his twenty-year-old son, Nick Challies. You can read Tim’s post here at On Running a Short Race Well. Please be in prayer for Tim, Aileen, their family, and friends.
Handling Political Disappointment
This is a timely guest post by Howard Eyrich at Kevin Carson’s blog site. Regardless of your political persuasions, these biblical reflections can be helpful. Read Howard’s thoughts here at Handling Political Disappointment.
A Review of Gospel-Centered Marriage Counseling
I’m thankful for Pastor David Dunham’s faithful blog reviewing ministry. And I’m thankful for his encouraging words here as he reviews Gospel-Centered Marriage Counseling. Dave says in part:
“I loved this book. It’s not only the best resource of its kind that I’ve come across, but it is my favorite of Bob’s books. It should be on every counselor’s shelf and it should be reviewed and referenced often in the practice of counseling couples.”

From Father to Son: J.R.R. Tolkien on Sex
Tolkien, of course, is know for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Dr. Albert Mohler introduces us to another side of Tolkien, that of a Christian father writing to his son about Christian sexual morality. Read Mohler and Tolkien in From Father to Son: J.R.R. Tolkien on Sex.
