There is such a respect for science and medicine in this country that when doctors and scientists tell us that emotional struggles are all due to errors in our biology most of us tend to believe them. Pastors are subject to that effect as much as the rest of us. It becomes a basic premise as we look at our own behavior and emotions and that of others. When we hear someone contradict that basic premise we tend to doubt them. We generally believe doctors when they tell us we have a strep throat. Much has been done to equate emotional struggles with that strep throat.
