God’s Smile

Thought: Did you know that your Father rejoices over you each and every day?

Rejoicing Over Our Children

Kids indeed say the darndest things and so do adults. My wife was reflecting on the amount of clothes that our youngest son has as a result of being the youngest son and said, “Levi has clothes running out his ears.” To which Levi grabbed tightly to both his ear and said, “I have clothes in my ears?” We both were laughing hysterically. Is it really kids who say the darndest things or us adults?

This got me thinking about how much I rejoice over my boys. They bring me such joy and make me laugh.

Our Heavenly Father Rejoicing Over Us

Could it be that I make God smile? Could it be that you do to the same? If Scriptures declare God as a better father because he would not withhold good gifts from us, then it would seem fair to say that He would be a better Father in every way. “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matt 7:9-11 NIV).

If I, a created, born sinful father experience joy at the pleasure my children bring me, wouldn’t it seem plausible that we, as God’s children could bring Him pleasure. You could have the opportunity each and every day to make the God of the Universe smile. Consider this! You can bring Him pleasure. (See the parable of the ten lepers Luke 17:11-17.)

A Lullaby from God

Now consider His response to you. Have you ever imagined that God is so tender with you that He sings you a lullaby. Zephaniah 3:17 states, “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Did you catch that last line? He rejoices over you with singing. So, why wouldn’t your response be to bring Him joy not only each day, but hour by hour and even moment by moment?

I’m Curious about Your Thoughts

How will you bask in the Father’s joy today?
